POSITION SUMMARY

A career opportunity exists in an established creative digital firm for a Junior Social Media Account Manager. The ideal candidate must have a strong social media grounding and be able to handle jobs from start to finish (i.e. from initial campaign strategy through to creative brief and implementation, to reporting), ensuring client requirements are met. To ensure efficient and effective delivery, this role requires a person who is deadline orientated with strong interpersonal and communications skills and fanatical attention to detail, including excellent spelling and grammar, and strong creative copywriting skills.

The successful applicant will have the freedom and creativity to act within established policies and procedures in order to achieve predetermined goals. The role is ideal for a proactive individual with initiative who wishes to work in the energetic and delivery-orientated creative agency environment. As a member of a small and diverse team, the successful applicant will also be responsible for providing support and administrative services to the Engage Brandcraft team from time to time.

 

PRINCIPAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Implementing a social media strategy
  • Managing and monitoring social media platforms internally and for clients
  • Engaging in dialogue and escalating customer issues for clients
  • Monitoring trends within the digital space
  • Using social media analysis tools
  • Monitoring brand related topics of conversation
  • Researching and creating relevant content to post
  • Assisting with idea generation for posts and campaigns
  • Implementing social media campaigns
  • Managing social media campaigns
  • Copywriting (blog, website, social media content) as required
  • Proof-reading as required
  • Liaising with clients as required
  • Liaising with the design team to ensure client brief/campaign requirements are met
  • Providing feedback to clients as required
  • Gathering and consolidating research findings in a way that is informative to the broader creative process in a way that is presentable to (and understandable by) clients and creatives
  • Defining/describing market characteristics or customer/consumer profiles
  • Sourcing and defining/describing examples of best-practice based on research conducted
  • Consistently contributing towards strategic and creative concepts of the highest quality
  • Assisting the Engage team in managing effective workflow (including: status reporting, managing jobs, timesheets, approval processes and other)
  • Consistently meeting deadlines and ensuring that client briefs are met
  • Liaising with suppliers when necessary
  • Ensuring presentation of work is professional at all times
  • Continually investing in industry and technical knowledge to ensure that the standard of work remains high
  • Promoting social media within the organisation
  • Ensuring that administration of work is kept accurate and updated at all times
  • Ensuring all work is continually backed-up
  • From time to time assisting with other general duties (e.g. taking calls etc.)

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Matric essential
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field
  • 1 year’s experience working in an agency environment, or within the social media or marketing division of a company

 

KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Working knowledge, both academic and practical, of commonly used social media approaches and processes
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Fully MS Office literate
  • Proficiency in Hootsuite, Google Analytics and basic WordPress advantageous
  • Experience using project and time management tools e.g. Asana and Toggl, advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Enthusiastic, confident and professional
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Independent team player
  • Ability to handle diverse activities (meet deadlines, prioritise, coordinate) calmly
